Our member firms employ surveyors, survey technicians, engineers, planners, spatial scientists, drafts people and many others involved in the role of creating land parcels and accurate placement of land and building across the country. There is a surveyor in every local city and region ensuring that land value is accurate, and they are held accountable by state and territory governments.
No building project commences without a surveyor first being on site.
Our goals over the next few years is to increase our membership across all jurisdictions ensuring surveyors are well represented and supported. We will expand our training options to support the needs of the surveying profession across Australia. Read our full Strategic Plan here.
As the voice of surveyors, we partner with key industry bodies such as the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Australian Construction Industry Forum to ensure we have input into federal policy and legislation. Though we are a small profession of 19,000 we are vital to Australia’s Development.
Surveying has been facing a skills shortage for many years and our research with Oxford Economics reveals we need 2,000 more surveyors every year joining our profession. Read this detailed research here.
Members of Surveyors Australia are dedicated to upholding a Professional Code of Ethics, fostering industry excellence and integrity, and delivering high-quality services to the community.
To combat the skills shortage, we have created our own Surveyors Academy to train the next generation of Surveyors. Unfortunately vocational education in surveying is problematic in many states and the territories and as an industry we have pulled together to create a solution that meets the needs of the industry, training the next generation of professionals. Find out more about the Surveyors Academy here.
